Cost of feeding

The following are just suggestions and should always accompany access to free-choice grit, fresh water, and some vegetation. Try adding our herbal supplement to offer many varieties of fresh Greens, Fruits, & Flowers.

The foundation of this feed is that of whole grains; therefore, your growing flock will usually consume less than that of a conventional feed. Furthermore, the amount your flock eats daily will primarily depend on the amount of access they have “outside the coop,” as well as, housing (i.e., chicken tractors that are moved continuously vs. fixed housing).

Start with about 1/8 cup per grower, twice daily. As they continue to grow, you can adjust the amount up to 1/2 cup per day per growing bird, twice daily. Continue to observe them during feedings, making adjustments as needed. For turkeys, stay with your current feeding rates, adjusting as necessary with housing and growth changes.

As a supplemental feed: Mix completely into your feed bag at the following rates:

5 lb. bucket per 25 lb. feed bag

10 lb. bucket per 50 lb. feed bag

As a treat: Feed as needed to add variety and nutrition to diet, as well as promote scratching and pecking.

We use this as a complete feed in conjunction with our Greens, Fruits, and Flowers. Our growers are now outside in chicken tractors that we move throughout our pastures. We continue to feed them 1/8 cup per growing bird scattered among the clean vegetation inside the tractor. Occasionally and with change, observe them during feeding times for about 20 minutes to make sure they are finishing their meal. If they finish in less time, you might need to bump up the amount; likewise, if they are not finishing in the allotted time, you might need to decrease the amount. Always make any adjustments slowly and in small quantities.

These are just estimates and based off of our personal experience; the amounts will fluctuate according to your use. Remember, our products are not only designed for your growers, but are intended for you; so whether we are helping you feed, supplement, or treat - we can enrich any feeding plan. The price estimates below do not reflect shipping and handling, as they fluctuate and must factor in circumstances that vary among buyers (i.e., distance, shipping method, etc.).

To feed one growing bird, 1/8 cup per bird, twice daily it would cost about $0.29 per day for a 10 lb bucket. The price would fall to about $0.25 per day if you were using a 20 lb bucket. For growers at this feeding rate, there are 90 servings in a 10 lb bucket and 180 servings in a 20 lb bucket.

We, at Casually Cockeyed Farms, realize this cost may be out of reach for some, and that is why we design our products with every farm in mind. We use the highest of quality ingredients; however, we pay a premium to do so. The good news is you can control the cost by utilizing the option to supplement your already established feeding program - just toss us into your feed bag and voila! To further reduce the cost, simply offer us to your growing birds as a beneficial, healthy treat - the possibilities are endless!
